Cosy Meditation

Right now, it’s cold here. 

The sea winds are biting. 

And there are regular storms.

What better time to light some candles and fold myself up in a cosy duvet?

Winter is an opportunity for rest and restoration.

The darkness and ease of being are necessary, oft-ignored parts of the seasons and cycles of life.

Something that really caters to my inner child is when my partner wraps me up in a blanket burrito and tucks me in tight.

There’s nothing for me to do but switch off…

In Western society today, busyness equals success.

But stress and burnout are all too prevalent.

In Chinese Medicine, the yin is as important as the yang.

Balance is key.

So I’ve decided that our next meditation is going to be all cuddly and warm, self-loving and caring.

We’ll create a beautiful ambience with soft lighting and pleasing aromas and we’ll snuggle up with pillows and blankets.

I will guide you in a mindfulness practice, deep breathing and relaxation…

Mindfulness & Tools for Calm Courses

Mindfulness, guided meditation and useful tools for positivity and calm.

If you want to create a positive habit of practising presence and calm, connecting to yourself and learning what works for you, this six-week course will give you all of that and more.

Additionally, I will share tools and tips that help to alleviate anxiety and get out of your head.

And above all, you’ll soothe that over-worked nervous system so that you can rest and relax.

Light Up: A Free Meditation

I have found this year difficult.

I know a lot of the world can relate. For similar and different reasons.

For me, as winter presents the cold and rain, and because I’m not getting all the things I want, it’s hard to see the light, the hope.

But I know it’s there. 

It’s there in the eyes and hearts of my loved ones.

It’s in the sky and the trees and the waves.

And it flickers and shines within me too.

Anxiety Workshop

There was so much interest in my anxiety meditation last week that I’ve decided to run a slightly longer workshop on the topic.

Next Tuesday 7th November, we’ll discuss anxiety, bring some more understanding to it, as well as learn some helpful tools to calm down, feel compassion for ourselves and relax. I will also guide you in meditation.

And there will be space for questions/sharing but absolutely no pressure! If you’d like to send me some questions/concerns beforehand, that’d be extremely helpful in tailoring this workshop to your needs.

Meditation for Anxiety

I have been suffering with anxiety. From as far back as I can remember.

Sometimes, it’s paralysing. Oftentimes, I feel it and get on with things anyway. And sometimes, I’m barely aware of it but it lurks underneath almost every thought and task, every moment.

Being extremely honest with myself about how I’ve been experiencing the world has helped. I don’t need to pretend any more.

The reality is that I don’t feel safe. My baseline belief is that bad things happen and that I am not secure.

When I put language on this, I know that it isn’t true. Spiritually, I feel that all is well and all shall be well.

But for whatever reason, for many reasons, my body doesn’t trust enough to let go. It holds on tight.

And my mind repeats self-destructive stories so I try to control every single little thing in order to protect myself. This does not work and I wind up feeling even more stressed, irritable and exhausted.

What I need now are many things: to speak to myself gently, to love myself unconditionally, to remind myself that I AM safe.

I also need touch: to self-massage, and to embrace myself, as well as give and receive hugs, book in for massages and/or other bodywork.

I need movement, to connect with my breath and to practice self-soothing exercises.

I need a healthy balance of inching out of my comfort zone and curling up in safety.

I need to get angry, to cry and grieve, to release.

I need to meditate, to be still and present, to sit in awareness.

From this place, from knowing and understanding how many of you might also be feeling, I create meditations and workshops that I need and that I hope hold and help you too.

For this reason, my next meditation session is for those of us who suffer from anxiety.

Tuesday 23rd November, 7:00-7:30PM Irish time, via Zoom.

We will move and stretch, self-massage and breathe. And I will guide you in meditation and visualisation.

This will be a safe space for all of us. You can leave your camera on or off and I will mute all participants during the meditation.

I will record the session but only I will be visible and audible. So if you can’t attend live, this won’t prevent you from benefiting. And if you’re present on the evening, you may wish to repeat the session. This will be available for three weeks from the live date.

Encourage Gathering

When you’re embroiled in an uncomfortable feeling, oftentimes it’s because you’re running away with a thought, entering into a story, and/or attaching your identity to a particular belief.

However, when you tap into awareness, you create a healthy distance between you the observer and that which you’re noticing.

You are not what you’re thinking or feeling so your thoughts and emotions lose their power over you. You free yourself.

You don’t have to fear or resist what’s coming up for you because you know it is not who you really are. They are transient experiences of which you are simply aware.

This coming Tuesday, we will practice loving awareness. We will connect to our bodies and our breath. We will mindfully meditate.

And through all this, we will feel better. We will enjoy being present to who we really are.

Happy Hallowe’en

As we approach Samhain and Hallowe’en, what better time to sit back and enjoy the fruits of our labour?
As we welcome the darkness, this is a time to slow down and journey inwards…
It’s an opportunity to face what scares you and release what’s been haunting you.
A lot of us live on high alert, fearing the worst. And when that becomes too much, we trudge through life like zombies.
During our next meditation session, we’ll connect with our inner witch or wizard, harnessing our power and magical presence.
We’ll move, breathe, meditate and visualise. We’ll practice courage and letting go, transforming our energy and coming into sweet relaxation.
